"The advantage of this [AmniSure®] test; [is that] it is much more objective, and also there is an enormous distinction between the concentration of this protein in the amniotic fluid, and the cervical vaginal discharge. The difference is about 1,000 to 10,000 fold, so that even a small leakage of amniotic fluid into the vagina will cause a large amount of this protein to be present."
Excerpt from Roundtable: Dr. Errol R. Norwitz, Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven CT, interviewed by Alix Boyle, OBGYN.net interviews
